On World AIDS Day 2025, observed on 1st December, authorities in Vizianagaram and Kiphire districts emphasized the importance of preventing new HIV cases, providing proper treatment, and raising public awareness about HIV/AIDS. This year’s theme, “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response,” highlighted the need for innovative approaches to fight the epidemic and ensure that no one is left behind, especially the most vulnerable populations.
In Vizianagaram, Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy instructed the Medical and Health Department to ensure comprehensive care for AIDS/HIV patients while focusing on curbing the spread of the disease.
The main program in Kiphire was held at DPDB Hall, Kiphire, with Deputy Commissioner Temsuwati Longkumer NCS as the Special Guest. The DC emphasized that World AIDS Day serves as a reminder to raise global awareness, honor those affected, and promote prevention and treatment. He appealed to all citizens to step forward, innovate in their response, and support efforts to combat the HIV epidemic collectively.
Dr. Holiba A Anar, Medical Officer at ARTC, spoke about the history and significance of World AIDS Day and stressed that despite progress in education and awareness, social stigma and taboos around HIV/AIDS persist. He underscored the day’s importance in supporting those living with HIV and remembering those who have passed away due to the disease.

- Invocation by Tsilongse, UDA, DC’s Office Kiphire.
- Welcome address by Tsiatsuvi, DPO DISHA.
- A special performance by Tsalopa Denis, Zonal Supervisor, LWS.
- The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Seropi T Sangtam, ICTC Supervisor, DISHA, and was chaired by Rozila, ICTC Counsellor.
The observance of World AIDS Day 2025 in Kiphire and Vizianagaram reinforces the commitment of local authorities and communities to prevent new HIV infections, eliminate stigma, and provide holistic support to those affected.
